1. About Us

Smart Sprout Learning is an online tutoring, reading and exam-practice service founded and run by Shannon, a UK primary school-trained tutor. We provide live online tuition, a subscription Reader Club, digital products and free exam-practice resources to families across the United Kingdom.

2. Eligibility

Our services are available to UK residents only. You must be 18 or over to register an account or make a purchase; children may use the Reading Library, gameboard quiz and exam practice tools only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian who holds the registered account.

3. Tuition Services

English and Maths tuition is delivered live, 1:1, via Google Meet, at £15 per 30-minute session. Sessions must be booked in advance via our booking form and confirmed by email with a Google Calendar link.

4. Digital Products

Digital products (including the Phonics Ebook, Interactive Flipbook, and study guides) are non-refundable once downloaded or accessed, in line with UK distance-selling rules for digital content.

5. Reader Club Membership

Reader Club membership is £4.99 per month or £39.99 per year, including a 7-day free trial. Membership automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless cancelled beforehand.

6. Payments

Payments are processed securely via Stripe and PayPal. We do not store your card details on our own servers.

7. Cancellations & Refunds

Tuition sessions may be rescheduled or cancelled with at least 24 hours' notice. Reader Club membership may be cancelled at any time and will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

8. Children's Safety & DBS

Shannon is DBS-checked. We take children's online safety seriously; all live sessions are supervised, and the Reading Library and quiz tools are designed for use alongside a responsible adult.

9. Phonics Screening Practice Tool Disclaimer

The Phonics Screening Practice Tool is an informal practice resource designed to build confidence with the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check. It is not an official government assessment and results should not be treated as a substitute for your child's actual school screening.

10. Intellectual Property

All text, illustrations, characters (including Pip, Squeak and the gameboard quiz characters), study guides and quiz content on this site are the intellectual property of Smart Sprout Learning and may not be reproduced or resold without permission.

11. Limitation of Liability

Smart Sprout Learning provides educational support and practice resources on a best-efforts basis. We are not liable for any indirect loss arising from use of the site, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

12. Data Protection

We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. For details on what we collect and why, see our separate Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Tutor Toolkit

The Tutor Toolkit is provided free of charge to registered, active Smart Sprout Learning tutors to help generate lesson plans, noticeboard displays, certificates and virtual manipulatives. The Tutor Toolkit calls Anthropic's Claude.ai API to generate content. Each tutor using the Toolkit is responsible for providing and using their own Claude.ai API credits; Smart Sprout Learning does not supply, fund, or reimburse API usage costs incurred through a tutor's use of the Tutor Toolkit. By using the Tutor Toolkit, a tutor agrees to hold their own valid Claude.ai account and API credits, to use them in accordance with Anthropic's own usage policies, and to bear all associated costs. Content generated via the Tutor Toolkit should always be reviewed by the tutor before being shared with or shown to a student.

How permission works on Smart Sprout Learning

Before a child can join the Reader Club gameboard quiz, chat with in-game characters, or convert SmartSprout Points into ClassDojo Points, a parent or guardian must switch on permission from our own Parent Zone settings. Nothing unlocks for a child until the adult on the account has said yes — so you always stay the one in control.
